Back in the Saddle Again

Having received some money from the peak performance project already the Painted Birds have decided to head back into the studio to record a new single.
The three of us met up with our old friend and past producer Shawn Cole for pre production last night and there was a great sense of desjavu. Once again we gathered around our living room floor with acoustic guitars and a white board and trimmed tightened up the arrangement of our next hit. It's exciting to finally go back in the studio. We hope you're all looking forward to this next release. It's gonna be a doozy.

Last day at boot camp!!

Well my friends it's been an amazing week. I remember talking to Dom Coletta from tv heart attack before the camp and there was almost a sense of dread in our discussion. I can assure you that such a conversation seems ridiculous now. The food, the mentoring, the bands, the weather, the faculty, the performances, the creativity, all have been perfectly wonderful.
Today Dan Moxon, of bend sinister, gathered a group of us to sing and record a song he'd written to thank the faculty. Dan, I must admit, is a stupendously talented musician and his song was very beautiful. As he admitted he'd written the song to say than you but to also get some notice in the competition.
As final words from boot camp to my peers and colleagues I would like to say this. I was skeptical before about any sort of competition between musicians, but it seems that we've all learned to use the competition to motivate us to create more and more beautiful music. I think it's great. We're all here because we love making music and keep it going. Over the next  few months use this opportunity to share your art with as large an audience as you can. I'd say may the best artist win, but I believe we are all winners for getting to take part in this.

 God Bless
